NYC EFFC Foster Parents must meet the following requirements:
✓ Age 21+
✓ Own or rent your own home
✓ Have a room for a child
✓ Be a resident of New York City or Westchester County
✓ Have a regular source of income
✓ Provide medical information for all household members
✓ Provide three references
✓ Provide proof of citizenship
✓ Pass state clearances
✓ Pass criminal record check for all household members
✓ Pass fingerprint check for all household members
✓ Undergo 40 hours of licensed training per year
Process:
1. Call or email a Recruiter or Licensor to express interest
2. Attend an info session/open house
3. Complete application
4. Complete pre-service training
5. Continue with mutual assessment process
6. Complete home assessment
7. Certification
8. Placement

To ensure the best fit for both our youth and foster parents, our process is thorough. However, we make our training as accessible as possible with options for morning and evening sessions and remote training. The best part? You can start training right away.
