Enhanced Foster Care Support

Serving Upstate NY: Cayuga, Ontario, Yates Counties

We know that children in foster care can experience multiple placements. Our Enhanced Foster Care Support Program supports foster parents, children, and relatives in Article 10 placements by helping them to stabilize the placement, avoid disruptions, and move the child to their permanent living situation as quickly as possible. While promoting the safety and well-being of the youth and family members, we help foster parents develop their parenting skills. We work towards nurturing a stable environment where foster youth can develop, maintain and build primary family connections, and improve individual and family functioning with their culture and community

Services provided

A highly-trained master’s level clinician:

→   Works alongside the county caseworker, foster parent, foster youth, and the youth’s permanency resource during the entire intervention. 

→   Is available 24/7 to provide support, including crisis assistance.

→   Conducts at least one home-based visit per week to offer clinical support and guidance.

→   Works with families on home routines, addressing trauma issues that may affect the child.

→   Helps foster parents understand how the child’s past experiences impact their behavior and relationships.

→   Consults weekly with foster families and relatives to ensure the placement is stable, nurturing, and promoting growth, development, and overall well-being.

→   Creates personalized treatment plans that meet the social, emotional, practical, behavioral, and safety needs of each youth.

→   Connects youth and foster families to additional support and community resources.

→   Foster parents who need additional support to stabilize placements.

→   Government entities who operate foster homes with high disruption rates.
