Service, Gratitude, Community, Selflessness…
Frederick N. Richardson, or Just Fred’ as he preferred to be called, was a man who epitomized community, generosity, and spirit. If you knew Fred, you knew what a gift he was to his family, his community, and this agency. Fred served on the Board of Cayuga Centers for almost 30 years – the last 20 as Chair of the Board.
Sadly, in 2016 Fred passed away just weeks before a Celebration of Service dinner to honor Fred and President and CEO Edward Myers Hayes on 50 combined years of service. The celebration became a memoriam of sorts, and we shared our thanks for Fred with his family and his community. To recognize Fred’s contributions, we began an annual Remember Fred Day. It’s a day for us to recognize the good work of our colleagues and friends, to lift each other up, and to celebrate Fred’s spirit and our collective good work together. Fred is gone, but his contributions and his love of service live on in each of us.
This Year
This year’s Remember Fred Day is on Thursday, December 3rd. The day will be full of recognition, socially distanced team lunches, and giveaways.
Remember Fred Day will be accompanied by an inaugural Celebration of Service Awards. Due to the pandemic, this year’s Celebration of Service Awards will be held virtually. Awards will be given to employees who have achieved 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service. These awards honor both the legacy of Fred Richardson and the dedication of our employees.
Together, we are Cayuga Centers!
