Cayuga Centers Partners With Children’s Museum Of Pittsburgh For Foster Families’ Night

Jun 15, 2023

PITTSBURGH, PA – June 15, 2023 – Cayuga Centers partnered with Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to host a community night for foster parents and families in Allegheny County. The celebration took place on Wednesday, May 10 in honor of National Foster Care Month and included an evening of engaging activities for foster youth and foster families.

During the evening, foster families from various agencies were invited to explore the entire Museum and Museum Lab at no cost. The event had a total of 134 attendees and included foster care agencies, like Cayuga Centers contracted by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services. “Foster care families open up their homes and hearts to children in need every day. Opening the museum up to welcome those families in is one small thing we can do to show our support for these vital members of our community. Our mission is to provide experiences that inspire kindness, joy, creativity, and curiosity for all learners, and it was particularly gratifying to see so many first-time visitors enjoying the museum that night. We look forward to hosting more nights like this in the coming year!” -Danielle Linzer, Senior Director of Education, Learning, and Research at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Cayuga Centers opened its newest Treatment Family Foster Care (TFFC) program in Allegheny County, PA in the Spring of 2021 and officially began recruiting foster parents to support the needs of foster youth in the area in January 2022. “We are so grateful to the Children’s Museum Of Pittsburgh for inviting our foster families to this special event. This is a wonderful opportunity for our families to connect with other foster families and have fun together. Thank you for recognizing the important work that foster families do every day.” -Tara Skibiel, Director of Foster Care Services at Cayuga Centers.
