Cayuga Centers staff member graduates from Leadership Cayuga
Jun 11, 2013
Charles Cole, Cayuga Centers' CNY Treatment Family Foster Care Program Coordinator, graduated from Leadership Cayuga at its ceremony June 5. The ceremony was the culmination of a six month long community leadership develop program that exposes participants to community issues, business growth, skill-building and group projects aimed at business, government and community issues and needs.
A graduate of SUNY Brockport, Cole began his career at Cayuga Centers in 2007 when he worked as a Group Care Worker in the agency's Residential Treatment Center. He was promoted to Unit Manager, and earlier this year became a Program Coordinator for the agency's CNY Treatment Family Foster Care program.
Even though he's a lifelong resident of Cayuga County, Cole was fascinated by the information he learned about the area's history and political/economic conditions through the Leadership Cayuga sessions held throughout the county. In addition, he believes the networking with other class participants and session presenters will be valuable in his work at Cayuga Centers. "I was unaware of all the community-based services and historical sites within Cayuga County and Auburn. I now have more knowledge that I can share with staff, families and youth," Cole said. He's appreciative of how much President and CEO Edward Myers Hayes and the agency invest in staff development.
Hayes said "we are pleased that Charles's professional growth and Cayuga Centers connection to the community has been strengthened by Charles's participation in Leadership Cayuga."
